ABOUT THIS WORK - KMI STRUCTURAL INTEGRATION
Anatomy Trains Structural Integration (link)
This type of myofascial therapy is based on the work of Ida Rolf and further expanded by her student, Author of bestseller 'The Anatomy Trains' Thomas Myers.
The term "Anatomy Trains" indicates that there are specific anatomical fascial connections/continuities, between the different body regions. These "trains" run forward, back, sideways and across the body at different depths.
The KMI 12 session concept includes 12 treatments, during which all these fascial continuities are processed to compensate for imbalances and resolve stress zones. Each of these treatments lasts 75-90 minutes. The treatment of fascia up to its deepest layers is experienced as very deep and liberating.
It is particularly beneficial if you suffer from chronic pain, struggle to recover from injuries, don't feel 'at home' in your body, or are simply looking to improve your core-connection, overall posture, movement possibilities, -efficiency and -coordination.
On your first visit we'll have a detailed discussion regarding your health history and current goals for our work together.
We'll begin each session with postural and movement assessment to know what’s already working well in your body and to discover where we'll work on to make some positive changes.
A session includes hands-on bodywork on the treatment table as well as movement education to create movement patterns for a pain-free living and a more balanced alignment of your body.
How is this work different to massage?
Structural bodywork is an interactive process between the practitioner and the client. During a treatment your participation (movement, breath and communication) is one of the fundamental ingredients to the effectiveness of this work and key to getting most out of your session. The techniques applied target your fascia tissues.
What to wear to the sessions?
The work is done in full-coverage underwear or minimal clothing to your comfort level.
Women may wear regular underwear, a two-piece bathing suit or a bra (regular bra, preferably a bralette; not a sports bra with a racer back) and either boy-short panties or athletic shorts. For guys, board shorts, athletic shorts or regular underwear are acceptable. Please avoid using lotions or oils prior to your appointment.
How often do I need to do a session?
Sessions are usually once a week to once a month, depending on your personal goals and how you're feeling after each session.
What to do between each session?
Between sessions you may get 'homework' to do in order to forster the new alignment and movement patterns we worked on. This often includes specific movement or breathing exercises as well as awareness training in order to pay attention on how you are moving and holding your body in space.
How much does it cost?
You can find all current rates here.
What are the refund and cancellation policies?
I have a 24 hour cancellation policy for all sessions. The packages expire 1 year from the purchase date.
